The CET, in the attempt of achieving its goal of employment of persons with disabilities, collaborates proactively with the Discatel Project along with the following companies:
- Asociación Española de Expertos en Centros de Contacto con Clientes (AEECCC)(Spanish Association of Experts in customer contact centers)
- Integralia Foundation
- SERTEL
- Alares Foundation
- Vodafone Spain
- Centro de Recuperación de Minusválidos Físicos de Madrid (Recovery Center for Physical Handicapped in Madrid)
With this objective, the possibilities of matching jobs to the segment of people with disabilities who are unable to travel to work sites can be offered.
The companies and experts who have also joined the meetings of the Group have contributed with their knowledge and experiences on this subject, among them we can include American Express, Fundosa Social Consulting, Mnemom Consultants, Stersor through its Manager Jordi Bech, the engineer Rafael Domene among others.
Chronology of proceedings
The Telework Group started its activity through monthly meetings from January 2006.
Throughout all this year various aspects of telework of contact centers were studied for handicapped people in Spain and in Europe.
From the outset the Group had the support of the "Real Patronato sobre Discapacidad" (Royal Board on Disability) and has conducted its meetings at the headquarters of the Agency with assistance and support of its officials and technicians.
In early 2007 the Group started pursuing the concrete realization of an experience in teleworking, named DISCATEL Project..
Description and objectives of DISCATEL Project
The main objective of this project is to demonstrate the technical feasibility and economic and social profitability of the telework of contact center made from home or from a remote center by people with physical disabilities. .
We believe that the service companies of contact center can become for many people with a disability in one of the best ways to find a job, because of the type of service that they offer.
One more step along this path is the realization of these tasks through teleworking from home of the disabled, especially for those with mobility difficulties or who are living in very remote areas from possible work sites.
To implement this experience four Business Partners were offered: Integralia Foundation, SERTEL, the "Centro Especial de Telemarketing" (Special Telemarketing Center) and the Alares Foundation, who made the selection, recruitment and supervision of 9 people with disabilities to work as contact center agents from their homes. This involved conducting various technological adjustments in each case, according to the agent's disability, both at the workers home and in the contact center platform.
The budget of this nine months experience of has exceeded € 180,000.
To implement it, a partial subsidy of the "Real Patronato" (Royal Patronage) and the "Ministerio de Industria, Turismo Y Comercio" (Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade) through the Avanza Plan have been received. The rest has been contributed by the four companies involved.
The Telework Group, has done a follow up of all the experience and has included the steps taken in a report, the hazards and problems that have been presented and the solutions found along the way.
We have also received valuable input and assistance of Mr. Juan Carlos Lozar, an expert in matters of employment and disability of CRMF of Madrid and the cooperation of Vodafone Spain.
All this with the altruistic motive of presenting this, at the right moment, to all the Partners of AEECCC and generally to all enterprises, institutions and persons concerned with these issues so that they see that this integration of people with disability is possible, is socially interesting, properly managed and economically viable.
